If you have questions about your Language Project I would encourage you to post them here on the blog. I'd also encourage you to attempt to answer one another's questions. I'll chime in as needed - monitoring the posts.
Also, I will be staying after class on Monday and Wednesday in Wallace 346 to answer questions, work with people on specific issues on their projects, etc. I would still encourage you to post items here that could give you a big jump on next week.
I've seen SEVERAL drafts of projects. They ALL have looked OUTSTANDING! The questions I am getting are EXCELLENT questions and the typical ones we have as we begin to analyze language. Keep them coming via email, blog or phone - all are welcome.

I am needing some help with transitive and intransitive sentances... here are a few that i think will help me do the rest of my project..
1- Good I'm in first grade
2- I like soccer i play it now
3- My mom works at the Poly Clinic
can someone help me with identifying direct objects. If i can find them then i can figure out if its transitive and intransitive... i was never taught anything having to do with grammer. Everything i know is self taught. I did form so i can better learn what i am going to be teaching. This summer i am taking a remedal course at a learning center back home in grammer to get more help but for now i would greatly appreciate it!

Ok I am doing Semantics and I am confused. After I write out all that I recorded and seperate the words and put a number next to each word for where it is in the transcription.. what do I do? I hope that makes sense.. Do I then put the number and what that word is? Im confused b/c on the example it has a lot of phrases, not words. For example: If my child says "I want to go home with daddy" do i put that "I" is existance or that the whole sentance is something.. Im not sure what it is.. Hope this isn't to confusing.. I have a hard time explaining it. Thanks guys!
Mrs. White
I was just wondering if you had several students from your Monday night class staying after tonight to speak with you about their projects? If you think you'll have enough time I would like to come by tonight and have you look over mine!
If that's okay can you just msg me back and let me know if it's in the same classroom and what time specifically class will be over,8:45? Thank you so much!!!
Mrs. White,
I would like to konw if I could stay after Wednesday and get some help after class with the LAP?
Yes, folks can stay after either night. Obviously if you're not here NOW - and I am - tonight might not be good for you. The folks from Monday night have now all gone.
Lisa,
You analyze each UTTERANCE - which is a phrase/sentence. Do not turn in a transcript to me with a number by every word - only with each utterance.
Be sure you delete out the numbers once you count them for the TTR
Hello Everyone!
When looking at the verbs for transitive can a verb answer where for the utterance to be transitive or is it just what or who? Dose that make sense?
ok so i've been looking over my utterance counting and i've misplaced my book and folder...hopefully they'll turn up. anyways i know that an utterance is counted at pauses and sentences. I'm confused if the child pauses and says "um, um, um he push me." would that be 4 utterances, or would the "um" not count at all? My child says "um" quite often, so crossing my fingers and hoping they count!!! If anyone knows I would love some help with this.
No, they do not count. Those are stated specifically as fillers in the book. An utterance is basically a phrase or a sentence.
Think about the fact of how you would classify those. They couldn't be transitive or intransitive or if you're doing semantics they aren't expressing meaning, either.
They are simply filling space as the child thinks about what he wants to say next.
Mrs. White,
Thanks! Im still confused tho.. we'll talk wed. :)
Lisa, I am doing semantics as well, maybe Wednesday night after class we can work on it.
It is going to be a long Wed. and Thursday night.
I am doing form...I have mine done (I think) and I will be staying after Wednesday night, I have mine on hard copy...so I hope I can have someone take a look at it.
Hello,
To whom ever is doing Form i would love to look over eachothers work its a very complicated thing for me so peer feedback would be great. I have completed everything except the write up parts (at least i hope)! I will be staying after class as well and probably be in class early bc i am crazy like that! Can't wait to see what you have and hope mine matches up!
Count down!! I am feeling better about our project. How about you. We can do this. Remember we have unitl Midnight, and it is always darkest before the dawn.
Mrs. White did you get my email about my Language Project?
Tarah, I hope you've gotten my email by now. If not CALL ME!
