Your Opinion

I am interested in your opinion. I am considering having ONE blog for both classes to participate in next semester instead of one per class. The blogs from semester to semester and class to class have been so incredibly different and used in such different ways. Just wondering what YOUR thoughts are about having both classes participate in the same blog.

Any other ideas or suggestions are also welcome as I reflect and prepare to revise for next semester.

I personally liked having our own blog. I was able to know who had posted because of interactions in class. If both classes were posting on the same blog, then it might not be as effective since the classes won't know who the other people are posting. It could have the complete opposite outcome, but I just liked having our own.

I think it is nice for each class to have their own blog. As time goes on in the semester, people seem to start blogging more and I think it is b/c they become more comfortable with those they have class with. All classes are different, I think the blogs should reflect the class as an individual.

I agree with Lauren and Michelle. It is nice having our own blog because we get to know the other students in our class. Put faces with names. You get a feel for the class if you know who you are blogging with.

I think this would be a good idea. Students in both classes can use each other's comments to their use. This interaction would benefit both classes.

Did you know that students in Monday's class look at Wednesday's blog?

In one way that suggests that having separate blogs gives students an opportunity to look at different blogs for different ideas while keeping the two classes distinct since the classes are different to get individual perspectives.

In another way it may suggest that if you put the classes together you could possibly bring about discussion that doesn't happen otherwise since students aren't together in class?

I think its good to have our own blog because it lets us get to know the people in our class a little bit better and maybe just being able to look at the other nights blog would help like Mrs. White said to get ideas, but I think we still need our own.

I like the idea of combining the Blogs, this way the student's of both classes can work as a team to answer each others questions. I do look at Monday nights blogs to see if they talk about anything that I would need to know. I can see why some people would want to keep them as 2 seperate blogs, but maybe if the students labeled what class they are in this would help with that concern.
Example Michelle(Wed. night class)

I liked having this class as a blog because I when I checked on the blog I used it as an update on what was happening during class. Since the two classes are on different nights I think that it is easy to have two different things going on in the two classes.

I also liked having our own blog, but the other class could offer somethings and advice too. They may understand better or have information to help Wednesday night class. Either way the person's name should have the class their in beside it.

I think the best solution to this would be to leave both the blogs seperate for each class but have it set up where a monday night student could blog on wednesday nights blog if they wanted to. That way it would be purely optional to participate on both blogs and for the students that needed the extra help they could get answers and recaps on information from both classes. Not to mention that students in both classes will likely have several of the same classes together in the near future so it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and get to know as many of them as possible.

I liked how our class had our own blog. Maybe we should have the option of posting together but still keep it seperate!!

I think it would be a good idea to combine the two. This would give you more oppurtunities to respond and you would have a wider variety of things to blog about.

Maybe it would be a good idea to have a blog for each class individually, but then maybe having a class that could be for both classes...which could be optional where they could interact with eachother? I enjoyed having our own class blog, because I knew who was in the class, but at the same time, I kind of wished I could have interacted with the other class as well.
