Field Choice
I would have to say that the reason I chose to go into Special Education is partily because I like working one on one. At the same time my brother has ADHD, or so they say. When he was little he had many of the symptoms but now that he is older he does not. I do think that he may be a slower learner but I do not think that he has ADHD. It is important to me that kids are not misdiagnosed. He now has that label and I do not think that it is right. My goal is to go into the field and be able to help these kids and make sure that everything is right. It is frustrating to me when kids that are 4 or 5 that are "busy" must have have attention deficit when in reality they are being 4 and 5 year olds. I do not think that I am wonder woman or anything but I want to be out and be able to help.

I love that you want to right the wrongs! i hate it when a teacher looks at a 5 yr old boy and labels him ADD or ADHD its not fair! That child is going to be refered to as his label and not his name! he will grow up with and one day very well may grow out of it! Kids are going to be twitchy and annoyed when they have to sit still... my CSC class is 3 hrs and i HATE is i am constantly getting up to go to the bathroom and boucing in my seat... just bc someone has energy to spare no matter what the age they do not nessicarrily have a disorder!
