Wed. Nights class

Wed. nights class was very interesting for me atleast. I have never really talked about this subject in depth and really it is kind of new to me. I was a bit confused when we started, but once we talked about it, it became very easy to understand. I am still very interested in this class and hope to keep learning new things each week.

You all told said that TEACHERS LEARN from students. I learned that even though I thought you would know letters and sounds and be able to easily just spell your name phonetically it was much more challenging than I thought the task would be.

What I thought was a meaningful connection into the subject - your name - still did not create sufficient foundation knowledge about LETTERS and the SOUNDS they make.

I'll back up this coming week as we review and do a few minutes of "direct instruction" to see if we can't clarify a bit of the confusion that may still exist for some people relative to phonemes. I'll do the same on each of the topics as well.

Exit slips (as well as folks sharing in the blog - which I hope to see more of in the next few days) is very helpful in helping the teacher focus on student learning rather than just standing up front and babbling or what some might call teaching.
