Infants
I have a 7 mth old who is blabing, but I think it just depends on the child and what communication they have with those around them. I had a friend who's 2 year old wouldn't say much. My four year old was talking by 1. I talk alot so I guess he learned from me. I talked to him all the time day till night whether it be about things going on or just how our day went. So keep it up making them talk to you and hopefully they'll come around.

It is great that you talk to your baby all the time. Every time you say words, the baby is gaining knowledge. In my Ele 445 class the teacher was talking about how children who cannot read recognize pictures of places based on the words said. For example, McDonalds. They know the word McDonalds, or they recognize the picture or place known as McDonalds.
Therefore, every time you talk to him/her you are building his/her word vocabulary.
At least that is how I understand it.
my little girl just turned 8mnts last night, and all she does is babbling, grunt, and squeal... and drool a lot.
