Since we have already taken our test, I would say it would be safe to talk about some of the questions that were on it. I didn't do good on question #9, did anyone else have problems with it? It was about the Hart & Risley study.
I also had a lot of trouble with question # 9, I thought I did really well on it, and understood the question, but I guess I just didn't go into a lot of depth.
What was the important finding? Most students got that right - they knew that different families communicated in different ways and gave LOTS of details about that.
The next part: What is the impact on the classroom?
Your answer needed to have ONE of the following ideas or something about. . .
The impact is that there will be a diversity of needs in one class. Children will come to school NOT on a level playing field. They start in all different places, all having different needs and the teacher's responsibility is to help each one of them experience academic success.
Yea, I was surprised with that question too. I just banked on the fact that we had lots of resources at our fingertips. I did okay too on this one just being able to put togther several ideas.
Looking for info to help me for the next test . . . I realize that just because SOME people get something correct doesn't mean it was clear for all students (remember that when YOU are teachers, too). . . but I am curious...
Do those of you who got this question wrong remember discussing this in class? If so, how do you think this question could have been worded differently?
The CONCEPT of this question is critical. It will be a FACT of your day to day life as teachers. Thus something you need to be mindful of in college so you are preparing to face it in the future.
I think maybe I would have answered the question differently if it had been worded as follows:
What important finding came from the Hart & Risley study? How does this have a significant language development impact on the classroom?
I felt as though I answered the first part of the question but instead of focusing on language development for the second part,I focused on behavior management from my class notes.

I did ok on htis question but I was afraid I went into to much detail.
I have not gotten my grade back yet, but I am afraid that I was not specific enough.

Trying to meet the diverse needs of 25-30 students is going to be one of the hardest things we have to do as teachers. Any words of wisdom?
I got it wrong also. Im not really sure about the question. I was quite confused to be honest.
