Put Reading First Booklet on Web - Bonus Points

Some folks asked about accessing the booklet used for bonus points on the web. Yes, you can! Whenever I ask myself that question . . . I always just go to Google - - - you all can do the exact same thing (grin)! I typed in, "Put Reading First" which is the title of the book (I can see it in the graphic on the blog here.
Several links came up to it.

Here is the first which is the text on the web:

If we choose to do the double notes entry on the "put reading first Booklet" do we have to provide information for the entire booklet or can we just pick out the most valuble points and relate it back to the content we have learned in class?

You choose either syntax or semantics. You may do as much of the book as you wish. You will earn up to 20 bonus points based on the amount and quality of your connections between the book and the content of this class.

Connections would be to:
1. Material in the book
2. Class discussions
3. Class activities
4. Material on blackboard
5. Handouts

You would not want to elaborate a great deal writing paragraphs about each one. You would want to spend the time looking at the material in the book, looking for a connection in course material and noting that in a way another person could understand. Feel free to discuss this with me - so that you do the right amount of work.

I am NOT looking to create tons of extra work or busy work for you. I want it to be meaningful to you.

I got caught up in class and did not pick up my book for the bonus points. I was wondering if you would bring me one to class so I could have the chance to do it.

I'm glad we can access this through the web! I missed class and didn't think I would be able to access the material until next class. I really think this is a wonderful opportunity to gain some points. I'm praying I will be able to fit it in with the chaos of school right now.

Remember - TOTALLY OPTIONAL - no pressure to do this. If folks have a full plate do not stress over it. It's bonus points.

If you do choose to do it - and you get SOME bonus points - you will have learned some things about the components of reading and how it relates to language and helped your grade. So, if you do work a portion of it in - that will help in many ways.

Tuck the resource away. I bet it will come in handy in other classes later!

I am so glad that Mrs White is giving us BONUS POINTS!! I think that I am going to need them after this test. Are we going to have access to the hbooklet during next class? I was not thinking either and forgot to pick one up.
