Wed Night class

I thought that wednesday nights class was very interesting. I really liked that we watched those videos because it helps me see real life situations instead of reading from the book. I have learned a little about CP and TBI's in another class, but class gave me better insight to both of them. Hope everyone has a great weekend and a great Thanksgiving!

Yes, goes to prove that you can not tell how smart someone is just by looking at them or their disability. It is sad to think that there are children out there that are not getting the tools they need to succeed, especially the ones who need the extra support. I will look at people with disabilities/handicaps in a different light than I did before. The progress the children made under proper instruction and assistance was totally awesome. This gives me motivation and encouragement for the future.

Isn't it sad to know that in some of these cases the child understands exactly what is going on and just can't respond to us?!? That is one thing that is very hard for me. It would be so rewarding to see a child bounce back like Curt did in the TBI video.

It is sad, but now we know and we can make a difference.

I agree that the videos had great meaning and a great way to learn for myself. I know that I have tried to show all my family this weekend while out of town about the boy who made the remarkable recovery. But I do love learning in so many different ways.

I also enjoyed class, I had never heard of the oxygen treatments for TBI. I really like that school to for children. It must have been a really good scholl because the children benifit from it.

Class was great, I really enjoyed the video on the baric research. I have personal connection to someone that scuba dives and was put into a baric chamber after having complications with an experimental dive. He sadly passed away just last week when his heart failed in the chamber. I was touched to see this same technique bringing someone back to life again. In some weird way I feel compelled to understand this procedure more in depth.

I cannot believe how much of a difference the oxygen treatments made, it blew me away!!! It is amazing that he improved as much as he did!

The videos made me think about a super intelligent man who is confined to a wheel chair and has some sort of illness. I did not know at the time but i checked and Stephen Hawking has ALS or Lou Gerigs disease. Anyway, he has overcome great adversity dispite his handicap as well as the children in the videos.

I really liked watching this video, during class I even wrote down this kids name and went back to my dorm to watch the whole video because it really just interested me. It was amazing to see how far he came along, and what he had overcome.
